College website redesign
From a cluttered 2012-era homepage to a fast, clear site where students find their course in three clicks.
Client: Lakeview College of Engineering (a fictional college). This is a design exercise, not a real client project.
Before and after
The “before” is a composite of patterns we see on many institution websites. Any resemblance to your homepage is purely… common.
The brief
A fictional engineering college with eight departments and a homepage that tried to show everything at once: a scrolling marquee, blinking “NEW” icons and forty links above the fold. Students could not find courses, and the admissions team lost enquiries in one shared inbox.
What was going wrong
- A scrolling marquee and blinking “NEW” icons fighting for attention
- Forty links on the homepage and no obvious place to start
- Course details scattered across PDFs
- Every enquiry landing in one overloaded inbox
- NAAC and NIRF documents impossible to find
What we designed
A course finder
Students filter by degree, department and mode of study, and reach a clear course page in three clicks.
Departments maintain their own pages
Each department edits its own faculty, labs and news, so nothing goes stale.
Enquiries routed automatically
Each form goes to the right admissions officer, with an instant reply to the student.
Accreditation in one place
NAAC, NIRF, AICTE and UGC documents in a single, searchable section.
Fast, even on hostel Wi-Fi
Much lighter pages, compressed images and global hosting.
